In the state of Ohio, if you are planning on selling used cars for a profit you are required to get an Ohio Used Car Dealer License.  However, If you are selling up to five of your own personal vehicles registered in your name in a 12 month period you will not need a license.

Generally, you must get a Pennsylvania dealer license if you wish to sell 5 or more vehicles in one calendar year. If you are selling less than 5 vehicles a year, those vehicles must be titled in your name, owned by you, and used primarily for personal, business, or household use.

In the “Peach State” any person, corporation, or partnership who sells used motor vehicles for retail or wholesale purposes must have a Georgia Dealer License (AKA: Georgia Used Car Dealer License.)

The general rule of thumb is that if you deal 5 or more used vehicles in a 12-month period, you must have a Georgia Used Car Dealer License.

The Illinois Secretary of State processes all new Illinois dealer license applications. 

You must get an Illinois Dealer License if you plan to deal 5 or more vehicles in a 12-month period.

• Involved in the business of selling, buying, or displaying for sale used motor vehicles
• Conducting the buying, selling, displaying for sale, and dealing of used motor vehicles
