How to get a Michigan Manufactured Home Certificate of Title Bond
Step #1: Contact the State
Before starting this process, contact the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to make sure you qualify to start this process.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs is the only entity that can tell you if you are eligible to get a title this way.
Step #2: Apply for Michigan Manufactured Home Certificate of Title Bond
Apply for a bond with a surety bond company. The state of Michigan requires that you apply for a bond for 2 times the value of your manufactured home.
For example, if your mobile home is worth $30,000, you would need to get a $60,000 bond.
You will not need to pay the full bond amount to get bonded. Instead, you’ll just pay a small portion.

Step #3: Complete Ownership Application
Once you purchase your bond, complete the Michigan Certificate of Manufactured Home Ownership Application.
Step #4: Mail your application and bond to the Michigan Secretary of State.
Title Expiration
A Michigan Certificate of Title Bond is issued for 5 years. If no one comes forward during this time period and makes a claim on your bond saying that they are the true owner of the mobile home, then the state of Michigan will issue you a clear Certificate of Title for your home.
